👋 Our Kitchen-First Promise

We know your days are filled with prep lists, last-minute shift swaps, and the constant rush to get everything right before the dinner rush hits. The last thing you need is a 50-page privacy policy full of confusing legal jargon that hides how we handle your team’s data.

This policy is written specifically for you: the line cook tagging a batch of braised short ribs as ready, the sous chef pulling station history to confirm prep was completed, the chef exporting a proof card to wrap up a smooth shift handoff.

Our core rule: We only collect what we need to make Telta work for your kitchen, and we never sell your data to anyone. Period.

🔍 What Data We Actually Collect (And Why We Need It)

We never collect data behind your back. Every piece of information we store is either something you explicitly choose to share, or technical data that keeps the app running smoothly during your busiest shifts.

Information You Choose To Share Directly

  • Account and profile details: When you sign up, you can share your kitchen’s name, your station role (line cook, sous chef, kitchen manager), and contact info if you want to receive shift alerts or batch update notifications.
  • Prep batch data: Every time you tag a batch owner, mark a batch as ready or blocked, add a note to a prep task, or upload a proof photo of completed work, that data is stored so your entire team can access it across the Board, Batch, and Photos tabs.
  • Export preferences: If you choose to export a proof card for shift readbacks, we’ll pull the batch details, status, timestamp, owner, note, and attached photo you’ve added to create that document for you.
  • Support requests: If you reach out to our team for help with a bug or feature request, any information you share in that conversation will be stored only to resolve your specific issue.

Information We Collect Automatically (To Keep Things Running Smoothly)

  • Usage timestamps: We log when you update a batch status, pull station history, or export a proof card to make sure your shift logs are accurate and sync across every device your kitchen uses (whether that’s a beat-up tablet on the prep line or a phone in the chef’s pocket).
  • Device info: We collect basic details about the devices you use to access Telta to make sure the app works properly on older hardware common in kitchen environments, and to troubleshoot if something stops loading mid-prep.
  • Sync status data: We track when data fails to sync between devices to fix issues before they cause a handoff miscommunication (we know how bad it is when the salad station doesn’t see that the dressing batch was marked blocked).

🛠️ How We Use Your Data (Only To Make Telta Work Better For You)

We never use your data for anything unrelated to making your prep handoffs faster, clearer, and more reliable. Every use case ties directly to the features you use every day:

  • We use your prep batch data and photos to sync updates across every team member’s device, so everyone sees the same proof photo on the Board, Batch, and Photos pages at all times—no more conflicting updates across different stations.
  • We use station ownership and edit history to make it easy for your team to confirm what changed, who updated a batch, and what prep still needs to be completed before service starts, cutting down on redundant questions during rush hour.
  • We use your export preferences to generate proof cards with all the details you need for clear shift readbacks, no extra manual input required when you’re already running behind before service.
  • We use usage and device data to fix bugs, make the app run faster on kitchen hardware, and build new features that actually solve your team’s pain points. We never build features for random users—we build them for *you*, based on how you actually use Telta in your kitchen.
  • If you’ve opted in to alerts, we’ll use your contact info to send you notifications for batch updates, blocked prep tasks, or shift handoff reminders you’ve set up. You can turn these off at any time in your settings.

🤝 Who We Share Your Data With (Spoiler: Almost No One)

We will never sell, rent, or license your kitchen’s prep data, photos, or shift logs to any third party for advertising or marketing purposes. Full stop.

The only times we ever share your data are limited to the following:

  • When you explicitly choose to share it: If you send a proof card to another team member, share a batch link with your head chef, or invite a third party (like a health auditor) to access your shift logs, we’ll only share the specific data you choose to share, with no extra data included.
  • When required by applicable binding rules: If we receive a valid, enforceable request for data, we’ll only share the minimum amount of data required, and we’ll notify you of the request if we’re allowed to do so.
  • With our trusted service providers: We work with a small number of vetted service providers who help us run Telta (like encrypted cloud storage providers for your photos, and customer support tools). All of these providers are contractually required to keep your data private and secure, and they can only use your data to provide services to us, not for their own purposes.

Your Control Over Your Data (No Hoop-Jumping Required)

You own every piece of data you add to Telta, and you have full control over it at all times, no complicated forms or support tickets required:

  • Edit or delete batch data anytime: You can update a batch’s status, owner, note, or attached photo at any time directly in the app. If you delete a photo or batch, it’s permanently removed from all synced devices and our servers within 10 seconds, no recovery possible unless you’ve saved a copy of a proof card locally.
  • Manage your account details: You can update your station role, contact info, or notification preferences at any time from your account settings, no approval needed.
  • Request a copy of your data: If you want a full export of all data tied to your kitchen’s account, just send us an email at privacy@telta.app and we’ll send you a ZIP file within 7 business days, no questions asked.
  • Delete your account whenever you want: If you decide to stop using
